Having trouble making life* work?
* Life = May include our dreams, relationships, religion, ministry, work, finances, challenges (or lack thereof), plans, projects, accomplishments, expectations, choices, emotions, thoughts, convictions….
Come find COUNSELing for a difficult yesterday, embedded with COACHing for a new tomorrow, grounded in CHRISTianity’s life-giving truth!

Life constantly refuses to cooperate with our plans! Besides, compared to the future God has dreamed for us, they are far too small anyway. When we do get counseling for our past, we emerge to discover that our future still lacks definition… and reasonable daring.

If you’d like a guide—a counselor & coach with a Christ-centered perspective—to help you live into a new future, while you’re processing your past, come see us at The Center!
Looking for a reason to NOT get our help?!
I probably shouldn’t offer reasons to not visit our practice, but it’s a real thing. Most people would rather open up to the dentist for a root canal than open up to a counselor for a soul-canal!
Read some of the “excuses” I’ve used myself, and heard from others, including one good reason to be done with them and take a new path!

1. Face What Was – Until we “unclick” all the filters we use to tell the story we want about our past and finally face the truth of what was, we’ll never move forward and become the truest version of ourselves.
2. Challenge What Is – Until we’re willing to admit that some of what was is still with us degrading our present, it’ll live our life for us and hamper all attempts to let God give us something better.
3. Brave What’s Next – Until we have at least begun to courageously work through the first two steps and move into enough healing and freedom to risk big enough to match God’s plans, God’s unwritten chapter will remain unwritten and we’ll never reach our God-given potential.

Wondering how we propose to get all this wonderful work done with you?
Get Well – When we get wellness deep down inside by letting God deal with our painful past, we begin to live well.
Live Well – The expanding internal wellness unmasks and releases the true us that God originally created, opening up new possibilities and meaning.
Give Well – The more true to ourselves we become the better we are for and to those around us, and God sees to it that we all live better lives.

While we may not be able to control all that happens to us, we can control what happens inside us.
Tell her about it. Tell her everything you feel. Give her every reason to accept that you’re for real.
Unexpressed emotions never die. They are buried alive and they will come forth later in uglier ways.
“Only you can prevent forest fires… If not you, who?”
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
“For the wounded and the hurting, for the lost and for the lonely, Jesus you came.”
“We need a fourth monkey… See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil… AND think no evil!”
“Hello, I’m Pastor Kerry and I’ve spent my adult life helping people figure out why Christianity doesn’t work for them.
There was a time when it didn’t work for me either! I had to work through my childhood baggage to figure out what I’d been doing wrong. I discovered that I’d been taught some things that were inaccurate, and some other things had been left out. I grew up in the church but I didn’t know God any better than… well… any better than I knew myself! I can tell you that CHRISTianity does “work” and it’s a grand adventure! I discovered that God is ready and able to provide us with all kinds of rescue, right here, right now. Jesus gave his life to secure the healing, freedom, victory, and purpose we need to live full and overcoming lives!”
“I’ve been asked how I ended up as a pastoral (Christian) counselor. It’s a long story, but if you’re interested, join me in my home office for a chat about how I got from a childhood of abuse and neglect to become the visionary founder and executive director of the Two Rivers Counseling Center.”
